I'd love to hear your thoughts on the book live free. I've done 11 chapters, I think right now, as of now. Speaker 0 00:00:47 So if you wanna, if you have not seen them all or listened to them all, there is a link in the description that'll lead you directly to all the previous ones. Today we're looking at chapter 12, Clearing the Fog, which basically I'm addressing, responding to a few questions that we may face as we begin living in freedom and we continue to go through life and face temptations. We may begin to deal with these lies or these doubts, and they begin to cloud and make our vision foggy and our ability to continue to live free, uh, difficult. And so I'm just discussing how do we navigate that? How do we navigate these lies? I give the analogy of a time when I was driving through a snowstorm or driving through fog, and it's hard to see, and even though you know how to do it all right, sometimes you end up, I ended up having a wreck. Speaker 0 00:01:42 And so in the same way, even though we know what we are to do now, or we know truth, the devil can begin sowing these lies that make it difficult for us to continue to live free and we end up messing up or having a wreck. I'll just, I, there's not really a whole lot in this chapter that I noticed that I would say differently. Um, I think the way I describe, uh, God's atton work, I would describe it a little differently. Um, it sounds very penal, substitutionary, atone. It sort of in, that's not a full picture of how the Bible depicts God. Uh, Jesus is atoning work on the cross. So maybe some things like that, some theological things that I would say differently. I do address, um, some things about sexual arousal, how people are biologically aroused. And the way I write it in the book, I can tell that I was learning some things about sexual arousal that caused me to temper how I said it, but I still kind of play into the, the stereotype that men are aroused by sight and women are aroused by something else. However, I, in the book, I refer you to a Speaker 1 00:02:58 PDF that you can download that I wrote called Making Sense of Sexual Arousal. And I know I wrote that because there was a study that came out over the time of working on this book that kind of nuanced how we understand sexual arousal. And so that PDF is just kind of discussing some of the findings in that study. And you can access that at the live free book.com. It's a free PDF you can download. So go ahead and take advantage of that. That'll kind of flesh out this chapter a little bit further. But I'll just share with you the lies that I dealt with that I address in this chapter. These are just samples, examples of lies we might deal with, and then also how I resolve them. I'm not gonna tell you about it here, you'll have to read the book <laugh> to find that. Speaker 1 00:03:43 But the way I resolve them, it is just how I, what I did, how I dealt with them. Um, but they're, I, I share this just to give kind of a glimpse of how you could with some of the, the lies you deal with. Um, one is, you know, after I sin that God is disappointed with me. So you've been living in freedom and then you sin again, and then this overwhelming feeling of God is disappointed with me. What do you do with that? Well, that's one thing. This book addresses, I must be really messed up if I struggle to gain victory if I struggle so much to gain victory. And again, this is kind of the mindset that I've been living in a level of freedom now after being, after struggling with loss so long, living in a level of freedom, but then I stumble again or I, I struggle with victory, with continual victory. Speaker 1 00:04:36 And this lie that, man, I must be really messed up if this is really hard for me. The fact that I feel aroused must mean I am alive to my flesh. And so that's where I discuss sexual arousal. No, like God made us sexual beings. That's good. That's a part of his creation. That doesn't mean you're alive to your flesh. It means you're functioning human being. What do you do with that? Well, we address that in this chapter. And so those are just some of the examples of lies we may have that, So we addressed way back, chapter three or chapter two or three, I forget what what it is. We address the lies that keep us from being honest and telling people these are lies that we're on this journey. We're finding freedom, but now we're struggling to continue to live free because these lies begin to cloud our vision. And so that's what this chapter addresses. The next chapter. We're, we're gonna take a pretty major shift, this concept of from living passively, where I'm struggling with this, with lust and, and I, I don't know what to do. I'm kind of on a defense to living powerfully. What has God designed us to do with our sexuality? Because God made our sexuality, He wants us, and it's not just made. So we go and have a lot of sex. Your sexuality Speaker 2 00:05:58 Fuels who you are as a physical being. And so we're gonna shift and begin to turn, turn into some of this purpose, life purpose thing. Now, this is where we're getting into the territory where I would say a number of things differently. And so you'll wanna stay tuned. Sign in for tomorrow when I, uh, uh, jump into chapter 13, passive or powerful. And then chapter 14 and on, we're gonna get into at least for three or four chapters here, we're there's gonna be a lot of things that I'm pretty sure I would say differently. So come back for tomorrow's video, and until then, I'll see you later.
